I relocated to Hawaii due to a recent employment change. While the move to Kailua on the Windward side of Oahu required a good deal of adjustment, it was when I broke a front tooth while moving boxes that I realized how much I trusted my old dentist in Michigan.

I dreaded the process of finding a new family dentist in Kailua that I could trust. Who would I ask for advice?  I barely knew anyone and I had to find some help fast since my tooth pain was increasing. Fortunately, my search for dental care in Kaneohe and Kailua landed me at Kaneohe Family Dental Care, the office of Dr. Cynthia Ichiriu Keller and Dr. Bruce Keller. Dr. Cynthia has been a fantastic dentist and I have referred many people to her since. I consider Dr. Cynthia the best dentist in Kaneohe but I have seen Dr. Bruce on several occasions and he is also a very skilled and caring Windward dentist.  I feel so fortunate to have found Kaneohe Family Dental Care. In fact I was so grateful that I would like to offer help to others trying to find their new dentist, even if you are not in urgent need. In the following tips I offer a few pointers about how I found my Windward dentist at Kaneohe Family Dental Care.

1)      Google search – Use Google to search the Internet using phrases that contain pertinent information such as location, services, awards, and other useful information. Through my search, I discovered that both Dr. Ichiriu and Dr. Keller are consistently ranked “Best Dentist” by Honolulu Magazine. I used the following phrases in my search for a good Windward dentist:

2)      Google Places – This helpful tool lists and provides reviews of particular businesses in given locations. Finding dental care in Kaneohe and Kailua has never been easier!  When you search using Google you will find a map on the right side of the page with locations that are identified using lettered balloons. The search results are ranked on the right according to relevance. Also, to the right of each listing you will see a link to each business’ “place page”. At the “place page” you can read reviews of Kaneohe Family Dental Care. I found that their patients love the way they are treated and the atmosphere at Kaneohe Family Dental Care. There were no negative comments from any reviewers.

3)   Yelp – Use Yelp, the online city guide, to learn what others think about dentists in a particular area, including Windward dentists. Dentists are rated and ranked with regard to the location you choose. I yelped “dentist Kaneohe” and “dentist Kailua” and found that Kaneohe Family Dental Care was #1 and the patients wrote fabulous reviews. Drs. Bruce and Cynthia had no negative reviews.

4)      View Websites – In this day and age, who doesn’t have a website? I believe that if a business doesn’t care to have a website, then they are too way behind the times for me. Why would a business go to the trouble to create a website only to have a simple, unattractive display?  When I encounter that, I tend to think they probably run their office in the same manner. Websites should be the source for all the information you might need, including location and maps, bios on the dentist, insurance and financing details, and additional information about dental products. The style and quality of a website can provide insight into what to expect from your dentist. The Kaneohe Family Dental Care website is beautiful, clean, and clearly a cut above the other Windward dentists. Dr. Keller and Dr. Ichiriu also write interesting blog articles that provide useful dental information in an entertaining manner, which I appreciated while searching for a family dentist in the Kailua area. Their blogs also provide a sense of their personality.

5)      Facebook – Another helpful method for those looking for dental care in Kaneohe and Kailua or for a cosmetic dentist in Kaneohe is to check referrals on Facebook.  This is an effective method for businesses to reach out to the community. Assuming a business has a Facebook page, this social media mecca also provides an interesting way to evaluate a business since you can see how many people “like” the business. On their Facebook page, Drs. Ichiriu and Keller offer you a chance to get to know them with photos and videos of their family, including their dogs. They also have posts about dental products and services.
