Get creative with varied types of vintage patterns
So I knew I had to get there quick before it all got carted off to the carboot.
I spent all day looking through all her lovely vintage treats that she no longer wanted with a huge grin on my face like a little girl again. I picked out my favourite trinkets and jewellery but was disappointed that all her vintage dresses did not fit me. I was gutted, until my grandma showed me her vintage dress making patterns that she had collected over the years and never got round to using. She suggested I make my own dress to my size, which I thought was a great idea. But I would still need to find some stunning vintage fabric to make it out of. I put them aside and carried on helping with the clear out. After awhile I came across some fabric wrapped up in a plastic bag at the back of her wardrobe. I pulled it out and found some adorable vintage fabric printed with flowers in pretty pastels. As I got it out of the bag I realised it was an old pair of curtains, I thought to myself this will be perfect. After showing my gran she told me I was more then welcome to them, I was so pleased.
A few weeks later I had followed one of the vintage dress making patterns to creating an adorable vintage dress using the curtains. It received no end of compliments, even my gran was impressed. If you would like to get in to creating your own vintage clothing I suggest checking out Spinsters Emporium. They have wide selection of vintage dress making patterns and vintage knitting patterns for all you knitters. There is a wide section of decades including 1950's, 1960's and 1970's and also fabulous vintage vogue sewing patterns. My favourite vintage dress making pattern from Spinsters Emporium at the moment has to be the Simplicity princess line dress, vintage pattern. I just love the simplicity of 60's vintage dresses and so recently purchased it to make one for myself. As Halloween is coming up I opted not to go as a ghost or a ghoul but a fabulous swinging sixties lady. I've made up the dress and I also purchased from spinsters emporium some Buddy Loves Holly Vintage fabric to use for some detail on the dress, which worked a treat. I have scoured the vintage stores to finish off my outfit with some gorgeous vintage accessories and I'm ready to go! I love wearing vintage clothes and they are perfect for any occasion, whether its a simple 60's dress for a summers day or a fabulous 50's gown for that sophisticated evening out with friends and maybe finish it off with a gorgeous vintage coat for those chilly evenings. If you want to stand out at that special occasion dress vintage! And the best way to make it your own is to make it yourself! So check out Spinsters Emporium for all your vintage haberdashery needs!
